At the time I began the HOPE painting series, I started sketching on my iPad while watching the evening news. After working in the studio, this digital exploration was convenient, challenging, and allowed me to continue exploring my themes: layering, gestures and abstraction. Since the app offered the option to record my efforts, I realized the videos also added two more dimensions to the series: time and audio. EUREKA! This was promising.

INSIGHT 5 is a multipart exploration that developed in stages. Like my four earlier INSIGHT series, it began in the studio with a series of paintings—works to be framed and hung, then scanned and reproduced in a large-format tabloid.
