INSIGHT 5: HOPE is the Fifth opus of my INSIGHT odyssey, a visual ballad documenting my search for the Golden Fleece. Currently a work in progress, preview rehearsals with the crew. A tabloid size book (cover left) includes paintings, digital sketchbook and a “playlist.”

INSIGHT 1 and 2
In 2020 I began searching for ways to make images using methods that were not restricted because of my progressive macular degeneration. You can read more about that here.
My first efforts were prints; a combination of free verse and past paintings or photos. I bound them in a softcover volume. Three months later, I republished it with additional explorations. Below are examples and the two covers.

UPDATE: In 2023, I revised this series (named William Blakish) with short videos.
NOTE: there is a prequel. For years, I had been making drawings on the iPad, mostly of nature. About 2011, when I realized my degrading vision was affecting my ability to draw, I shifted from nature to self portraits. KBS 2012 is a collection of this period with comments about my diagnosis.
Q: Where is INSIGHT 1? A: It is folded within INSIGHT 2. Initially, I expected INSIGHT to keep expanding as I added more content. I was inspired by Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass. Then, with LEMONADE, I changed formats so I could share larger images. Then, I changed format again. And again.
