When I began the HOPE series in my studio, I had no idea what direction the paintings would take. So, I began making sketches on my iPad, most often while watching the evening news. So convenient, so disposable; I could explore layering, gestures and abstraction. The process was promising. Since the app offered the option to record my efforts, I realized the videos added another dimension to the series: time. I am not contemplating Tik Tok. Yet.
