This series is a LUMPEN Studio collaboration done in October 2006 when I was in Minneapolis to celebrate my sixtieth birthday and the arrival of my second granddaughter. The project initially took form when LUMPEN held a workshop at the Turf Club on University Avenue in St. Paul. It then progressed to that traditional ceremonial nexus of creativity — the Kiva on Vernon Street.
The titles of these sculptural images were taken for the endless list of possible girl names that was passing back and forth between Danielle and Steve Arlowe. (They finally settled on Josephine Blythe.) For the complete experience, follow this link to View the Sweet Suite book in a separate window. To turn pages, click or tap the book corners.
