I began working on this when I was a few weeks out of my first round of treatment from Aplastic Anemia in early November of 2003. I was receiving weekly blood transfusions and felt good enough to fit in some painting time. However, It took till April of 2004 to finish. But I was always finishing it in my imagination. It's was my first painting using all AP Non Toxic oil paint and oil medium as my thinner. This painting sparked the beginning of my interest in painting the fisherman of my father's homeland of Galicia, Spain.
