I” have been making art seriously since 1970. Whether working in photography, painting, drawings or video, the efforts are always done as a series. INSIGHT 5: HOPE
This series is the fifth opus of my INSIGHT odyssey, a visual ballad documenting my search for the Golden Fleece. Published in December 2024, I celebrate with the cast and crew. A tabloid size book (cover left) includes paintings, digital sketchbook and a “playlist.”

INSIGHT 4: EXPRESS
My intention is not to replicate my sight but to impress upon you my experience. That is, my frustration and my vulnerability but also my joy for what I do have. INSIGHT is my search for expression.

INSIGHT 3: LEMONADE
I showed a local printer INSIGHT 2, and she suggested a larger format, showing me one done for a photographer. For so many reasons, I wanted this. We printed an edition of 150. Believing my Low Vision was not just a disability but a blessing, I called this series LEMONADE.

INSIGHT 1 and INSIGHT 2
By 2020, I could no longer see where the pencil meets the paper and could no longer draw or paint accurately, a talent that had been central to my work. Only the very center of my sight was a cloudy blur. Peripheral vision was good. I felt confident. KBS 2012: the prequel
Since it was introduce in 2010 I had been drawing on the iPad (Flora 2011, mostly of nature. In 2011, after I accepted that my degrading vision was affecting my ability to draw, I shifted from nature to self portraits.
KBS 2012 is a collection of work from this period with comments about my diagnosis at that time.
